About the AuthorPeter Behrens is a native of Montreal where he was educated at Lower Canada College, Concordia University, and McGill. He held a Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Creative Writing at Stanford University, and was a Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts. His collection of short stories, NIGHT DRIVING was published in 1987. Stories and essays have appeared in Tin House, Brick, Best Canadian Stories (twice), Best Canadian Essays, The Atlantic Monthly, and many anthologies. After his first story published in the US appeared in The Atlantic Monthly and was optioned in Hollywood he began to work as a professional screenwriter. He lives in Maine and spends two months of the year in Los Angeles. THE LAW OF DREAMS is his first novel.

Il a enseigné la Creative Writing à l’université de Stanford et a été membre du centre des beaux arts à Provincetown, Massachusetts. Son recueil de nouvelles, Night driving, a été publié en 1987, suivi par la parution d’essais et de nouvelles dans diverses revues (Best Canadian Stories, Best Canadian Essays, The Atlantic Monthly . . .) et anthologies. Depuis que sa première fiction a paru dans The Atlantic Monthly a fait l’objet d’une option par Hollywood, il travaille en tant que scénariste professionnel. Il vit dans le Maine avec sa femme et son fils et passe deux mois par an à Los Angeles. La loi des rêves est son premier roman. Il a été récompensé en 2006 par le Governor General’s Literary Award.
